Phase 2 (Year 2) Welcome

Welcome to the second year of medical school, also known as “Phase 2.” The focus of this year’s curriculum is on organ systems in health and disease. There are eight organ system modules, all of which are multidisciplinary. You will learn the embryology, histology, physiology, pathology, pathophysiology, and related clinical material, as well as drugs used to treat diseases of the particular organ system. Death and Dying and Bedside Diagnosis comprise the Patient, Physician and Society 2 (PPS2) series of courses in Year 2. These courses run throughout the year and both introduce you to aspects of the broader environment in which medicine is practiced, as well as providing the opportunity for you to develop the skills of medical history taking and physical diagnosis.
